Continue to Change and Evolve

Since I start this blog a few weeks ago the response has been very positive. I have committed to bring issues that I feel is important to the forefront, spark debate and look to educate each other. Moving forward I would also like to hear from people on issues they feel are of importance to them. I just changed settings so that anyone can write comments without having a google account. So I invite everyone to leave a comment and give input on items to help and educate me and others as we move forward. I know the tone is more social issues and political, however I ask for comments on any area you want. This is for all of us, that is why I called it America's Voice. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from all of you soon.

Distortion of the Facts. Part Two

I feel the reason on this law is twofold. One the insurance industry is very good at having people dispense fear to the average person knowing they will resist because of a lack of knowledge. The second is an actual fear by people. The fear of change. The way to combat this is to seek, the knowledge and understanding of the facts. The type of people spewing this trash are the ones that can take money or other incentives to reward themselves. The idea that they are hurting many people does not enter into their thinking. They have their agenda and they have the power to move it forward. What can we do?  Don't accept information on the face value. Research the items and seek out the truth. Talk to people you trust to get their input. Finally, the most important part, arm ourselves with KNOWLEDGE. You have all heard the phrase, "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER." Believe in it! The people in control want to keep it and as long as we don't do our jobs and question them, they will succeed. We cannot allow this to happen. We are the power.

Distortion of the Facts. Part One

This is not an indictment of any one political or ideological group, it is a conviction of all people or groups that distort facts to gain political advantage. When we were children, what was one of the tenants of our faith we all were taught. "Thou shalt not lie!" Now I remember being told there was no difference between a small (white) lie and an outright direct one. When people take it upon themselves to distort facts or lie, it has the same effect. The truth is hidden and in the case of politics it is hidden to promote a specific agenda. One example is the misinformation spread about the new health care law. It has been called a "job killing bill" based upon a study by the CBO(Congressional Budget Office), that stated, "some people that are near retirement age, may step out of the work force into retirement because of the reduction in premiums for health insurance, created by the new law." So people retiring, by choice is a jobs killing bill? Remember the same people using the CBO information now, would not use the CBO cost savings numbers on the health care law. People are using a chain E-mail by a judge in Texas, as proof that the new law will, amongst other things, pay and cover for illegal immigrants and death panels. This information has been dissected and proven misleading, half truths and completely false. Why? Are they all working for the large health insurance companies? Are they concerned that their billions in profits are not enough?

Thank you Marines

Marines, first "thank you" for your comments and insight. You make a wonderful point that we have to get back to being proud to be Americans. For too long we have sat on the sidelines and instead of having a civil and constructive discussion, we find fault and ways to disagree. We need to find the common ground that we all, as Americans, can start from and work outward from there. Right now we start at the point we disagree on and say nothing more, while we protect our own agendas. Last night President Obama spoke of the ideal that is America. I strongly believe that all Americans need to move forward, hand in hand, to complete the vision that our founders saw. We have to accomplish this goal and we will, because we are Americans.

Have We Failed the Greatest Generation? Part 2

I believe that as much as the previous generation expended in energy to move our country forward, we have expended the least amount of energy to sustain this growth. We have more information at our fingertips then ever in the history of mankind and yet we chose to sit back and wait for someone to come forward and tell us who to vote for in a thirty second commercial. We are unwilling to do the work to sustain our great democracy. We are politically lazy. Each day we loose over one thousand of our veterans from the great war. As the mournful sound of taps is heard across America's broad plains will this signal an end to the Greatest Generation's plan for America, or an awakening of our generation to answer the call. You have to decide. For me it is a time to help lead us forward.

Have We Failed the Greatest Generation? Part 1

When I saw that Major Dick Winters, from Band of Brothers fame, passed away I started to wonder if my generation and subsequent generations have failed to continue the promise of our parents and the Greatest generation. What one key ingredient did they possess that we certainly have not been able to grasp?  The idea that America was bigger and more important then themselves. I have listened everyday to our leaders giving excuses for not being able to accomplish goals and agendas that they would have found laughable during and after World War II. Our parents not only lead the way to defeating Hitler and the Axis, they continued after the war to build this nation into the greatest industrial and economic power the world has ever seen. When did we decide that our own accomplishments were far more important then the achievements of  a nation? During World War II the entire country came together and sacrificed. Everything from scrap drives, victory gardens and rationing of food and gasoline, were accepted. Everyone was reminded that the men and women in uniform were giving up so much more and they did their part because the continuation of freedom for everyone was at stake. To be continued.

A New Terrorist Attack on America!

The shooting in Tucson on Saturday was a terrorist attack on America, as much as the 9-11 attack. Before anyone gets offended, let me explain. Yes, there is no doubt that the 9-11 attack was on a much larger scale with so many more life's tragically taken, but just like on 9-11 the terrorist wanted to change America through violence. Anytime someone wants to change the direction of our country they have a right to speak out, responsibly, and then, have their voices heard at the ballot box. Over the last couple of days we have heard all the rhetoric escalate about how this happened. What caused this to happen. What could we have done to prevent this. The answer to all of these questions is the same. Nothing! These things happen in an open society and we are exposed for repeats of the same thing. After 9-11 everyone wanted answers and reasons. They wanted someone to blame and a solution. This is what terrorists want to happen. They want us to reexamine our lives in America. They want us to give away our freedoms and liberties. They want us to take short cuts in our judicial system and bypass the Constitution. We as Americans need to accert that we cannot and will not permit this to happen.
