Have We Failed the Greatest Generation? Part 1

When I saw that Major Dick Winters, from Band of Brothers fame, passed away I started to wonder if my generation and subsequent generations have failed to continue the promise of our parents and the Greatest generation. What one key ingredient did they possess that we certainly have not been able to grasp?  The idea that America was bigger and more important then themselves. I have listened everyday to our leaders giving excuses for not being able to accomplish goals and agendas that they would have found laughable during and after World War II. Our parents not only lead the way to defeating Hitler and the Axis, they continued after the war to build this nation into the greatest industrial and economic power the world has ever seen. When did we decide that our own accomplishments were far more important then the achievements of  a nation? During World War II the entire country came together and sacrificed. Everything from scrap drives, victory gardens and rationing of food and gasoline, were accepted. Everyone was reminded that the men and women in uniform were giving up so much more and they did their part because the continuation of freedom for everyone was at stake. To be continued.

  1. John: It is a reminder of how times change. How generations are brought up and how glorious it was to have an American Flag posted in our houses. We have to instill that we should honor and respect the miltary uniform; for its because of them that we are able to stay safe in our surroundings. Politics should be transparent when it comes to the foundations of what we once were and could possibly be again.
