The American Dream

There are times that I become discouraged by the lack of America's focus and desire to change, then I read something that restores my faith in the people of this country. Yesterday Xavier University released its American Dream Survey results and guess what. Americans are very intelligent and have insight into where our problems originate. The survey found that 83% distrust our political process. Big Business distrust is 79%. Government is 78%, and the media is 72%. They also say that our most serious problem is Jobs/Unemployment 43%, while government spending and debt are 8% and 5% respectively. These are not just a bunch of numbers. Look at what people are saying. We do not trust our politicians to do what is in the best interest of the American people. We do not trust big business, the people that put us in the position we are in now with their greed. We distrust our government to do what is fair and correct. Finally we do not trust the media to give us the correct information to help us make decisions when we elect our leaders. The constant voices that we hear are that Americans are concerned with the debt and spending. Not true! We want jobs. Good paying jobs and yet the politicians are ignoring us and trying to advance their social agendas, while they turn a deaf ear to what we want. We know what is wrong and I believe we have a better sense on how to fix the problems we face. All the politicians have to do is listen, get out of our way and then follow us.
