Response to Comments from Danny

Danny let me start by saying that I totally support your opinions and this is why I wanted to establish this blog. I will take exception though to some of the facts that you used. First I am going to focus on the war part of your response. I have not and will not support the wars that we have entered into in Iraq and Afghanistan, however Congress is within their rights to authorize these actions. If you look at the Constitution Article 1 Section 8, this the article that addresses among other things the right to declare war by Congress, the last paragraph gives them a broad opening to make laws to carry out the way that this is done. Now lets see how Congress has accomplished this. The so called Quasi-War against France in 1798 was the first time they authorized war. This was done to protect American commerce from French intervention. It has been used several times since, including the Gulf of Tonkin resolution in 1964, when North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked, (reportedly) the U.S.S. Maddox and President Johnson asked for the power to go to war to  protect and assist members of the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty. I will continue in next post.

  1. This is a HUGE issue as we are crossing over into "constitutional interpretation". The points I make I hope to keep very plan as I am no lawyer. However, I do not think the constitution nor its original intent is VERY difficult to understand. I have read Article 1 sec 8 and I have a understanding of the "necessary and proper" clause, and some general understanding of its historical use/abuse. (This will become big in other issues later.)

Let me first clarify a point I made. I do not "believe" that we have gone to war in DEFENSE of our United State since WWII. If you notice even when our blossoming country struggled with this they went to war against... A COUNTRY!!! "I never said Article 1 sec 8 dose not permit war". However, we now have allowed our country to enter into KOREA, VIETNAM, KUWAIT, IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, PAKISTAN, and YEMEN when not directly attacked.

You say that you will never endorse the current "war" however our nations complacency and the governments fear mongering have allowed your government to do what you so strongly disagree with over the past decade. George Bush didn't write the book... he is simply repeating history.

Please don't find me rude when I say that past generations inability to confine our government to the Constitution has allowed our current young men and women to fight needlessly.

Also please note that when you mention the North Vietnamese attacks... "WE WERE OVER THERE"! They didn't sail to the Gulf of Mexico, Long Island or Pearl Harbor. We were over there! This is were almost all Americans go gonzo. What would we do if a war ship from any other country way even close to our shores? Seriously... think. What would you do if Afghan troops had blown up you neighbors house, and were now walking down your street? I would be shooting... and the Afghan news would call me an insurgent, or terrorist.

We allow ourselves to actually think we are superior in thought and in action. And we are baffled when they shoot back.

  2. Evil is evil, for the entirety of existance the same tactics have been employed. As the wise King Solomon said, "There is NOTHING new under the sun". The problem is that we are too easily distracted by the endless amounts of nonsensical "entertainment" vying for our attention. We would spot the cycles, patterns, and tactics a million miles away if we were educated. Saqdly, education is no longer valued by our adults, and DEFINATELY not valued by our youth! Entertainment, now THAT is valued. Do a lil' song and dance, make me laugh, dunk that basket, rap a simple song to that beat..... distract me! I don't want to put any effort into the hard work required to change things..... I don't even want to "Stress myself out" by THINKING of any really substancial issues. Just ENTERTAIN ME, tell some jokes, put a bunch of strangers in a house together and let me WASTE MY life watching theirs, because it is so much more ENTERTAINING to me than living my own. Not only do I want to be entertained, I am willing to pay whatever it costs to be entertained. I realize my kids teachers are only making $30,000 a year, but Labron DESERVES those 8 digits a year, he's a great ENTERTAINER!!!! I know NO CHILD wants to be a teacher anymore, to help others become educated individuals who can think for themselves, who can spot situations that are OBVIOUSLY way off track according to the guidlines our forefathers set up for us, and would actually CARE. Would have the balls to do something about it like people in so many other countries are begining to. But, nope!!! Not only is that not the case, we try so hard to coax, guide, and persuade our own offspring to follow the footsteps of every other blind man in America and to pursue the career of an entertainer rather than an educator. Don't you wanna be a ball player like your ol man? I signed you up for Hockey! Do you want to enter this beauty pagent??? Oh I forgot, your only 2, you have no way of really deciding that, I will decide for you, you are going to ENTERTAIN!!!!! Sorry about the rant but...... Theres just not that much about entertainment that entertains me these days.
